New member, great forum! Almost ready to purchase just looking for some additional opinions.

B7800 HSD-F (folding ROPs mid PTO)
Loaded R4 tires
LA402 FEL

$15,100

B2910 (folding ROPs mid PTO)
Loaded R4 tires
LA402 FEL

$16,600

Lowest prices I could find within 100 miles (Balt/DC area).

Plan on keeping the tractor a long time, leaning towards the 2910 but having a hard time justifying the extra 1.5K.

Thanks,
Dave

Doesn't sound too bad.
Did you try Antietam Tractor in Hagerstown, MD. That is where I got my 7800 last November. I got the B7800 with loaded R-4's, LA402 FEL and 60" MMM for $16,900.
The 2910 has some nice creature comforts that I sometimes wish I would have gotten but still couldn't justify the extra $$$$. My 7800 has been great. ....

Thanks for the reply, haven't tried Antietam, I will give them a call. At this point I am going with Byrd in Manassass, VA. They seem like a small no BS place. A few guys I work with use them a lot and are happy. The 0%/36 month offer runs out today and no one seems to know if it will be extended.

I feel the same way about the creature features. Nice but not necessary, although the upgraded PTO arms maybe worth the extra price alone. I keep trying to convince myself that the extra cost over the life of the tractor is minimal but still not convinced.

Thanks,
Dave ....

There are some other differences between the two tractors are a little more than creature features, The 2910 includes:

Position control on the 3-point
Rear hydraulic block
Mid-pto, check and make sure your model of the 7800 inlcudes this, it is an option.
Larger alternator, different headlight group
Plus the creature features; seat, tilt steering, body panels, 3-point arms and ratchet side link, etc.

I have the 7800, and have added several of the 2910 features to it. I really like the 7800, but would probably spend the extra $'s for the 2910 if I were to do it all over. The position control on the 3-point is a nice feature to have if you plan to do a lot of grading work.

The pricing you have seems pretty good. ....

beagle,

Thanks for the info. I was aware of 2910 having upgraded seat, cruise control, better PTO arms, rear PTO block, tilt/telescopic steering wheel, 3 range HST, but wasn't aware of the alternator, body panel and headlight differences (my dealer wasn't aware either ???).

The 7800 i speced included folding ROP's and mid pto.

Really leaning towards the 2910. I don't mind paying for quality equipment but my frugal side is wrestling over the upgrade.

Thanks,
Dave ....

The 7800 has the same 3-range HST as the 2910. As far as the rear hydraulic block, I added two rear remotes to my B7800-f without a problem. The rear block makes it more convenient. The B7800-f is the model with folding ROPS and the mid-pto.

I still think the position control is probably the thing that would be missed the most. The 7800 has a Speed Set Lever that basically acts the same as the cruise control lever on the 2910. It allows you to set the speed without keeping your foot on the forward pedal, and disengages with the brake. The only difference is that you set the speed with the pedal first, instead of the cruise control hand lever.

I changed out and added the 2910 seat, body panels, and 3-point to my 7800. For the money I spent, I could have the 2910, and have position control with it. Take a good look at what you will be using it for, and whether you will have long seat times. That will help you decide which one you need.

I stress, they are both very nice machines, with great power to weight ratios. ....

If its not too late, Add one more vote for the 2910 if the price differential is just $1500.

Unless this is mainly a field/lawn mower. Position control and the rear hydraulics are the main useful difference. I keep hearing how useful a hydraulic top link is for use with box blade and similar devices.

I think the rest would be nice, but could be lived without. ....

Rear hydraulics are not a problem with the 7800. Simple and straight forward. The position control is not a change over that would make any sense at all. If you are going to be doing a good deal of grading work, go for the 2910. If you want rear hydraulic plugs, either machine will do.

I still vote for the 2910. ....

Thanks for all the advice guys.

I found a 2910 w/la402 at a Kubota dealer that is approx. 8 miles from home. I didn't think they sold Kubota, only New Holland. I stopped to talk to a guy running a L3400 on a farm down the road from me and he recommended the local dealer.

Here is the deal
B2910
LA402
Loaded R4 tires
$16,800

They were $200 higher on the tractor price but only charged me the state UCC fee ($50.00) and didn't try to hose me on the KCC fee. They installed a tooth bar, bucket hooks and threw in a bunch of pins and a clevis for $200.

It ended up being around $75 less than the cheaper tractor price which was about 50 miles away. They wanted $75 to install three hooks, $125.00 for UCC AND KCC fees and around $300.00 for an installed tooth bar and $100.00 for a delivery.

My local dealer loans small implements to customers and offers discounted rates on larger implements and other equipment rentals (backhoes, skid steers etc).

Should be arriving on a rollback sometime tomorrow afternoon. Local dealer didn't seem any better of worse to deal with than the dealer I was going to buy from, should be a good thing to have business relationship with a dealer only a few miles from home.

Thanks Again,
Dave ....

Gateway
Upper Marlboro, MD

If I was closer I would have went with Antietam Tractor in Hagerstown. Price was a little less there and the folks there seemed to appreciate your being there. The Gateway operation doesn't exactly make you feel "warm and fuzzy", they seem more about business, ready to move on to the next deal. I went with Gateway because they were very close and willing to write up the deal to save me some cash.

Whatever you do don't let anyone try to hit you up for the KCC fee, there ain't not such thing, it is just padding for the dealers bottom line.

Dave ....

Prices - hot off the press. Also, B2910 to be discontinued in favor of B2930 Grande.

Prices just quoted to me yesterday by Canns-Bilco Kubota in SE PA. Both prices include folding ROPS, R4's and 60" Kubota LA402 loader but no state taxes.

B7800 HSD - $15383.

B2910HSD - $17452.

Canns-Bilco told me that there is a big Kubota national sales meeting this fall. They expect that the B7800 will stay but the B2710 (of which they sell zero) and the B2910 WILL BE DISCONTINUED. The replacement will be an even more loaded up version of the B2910 to be called the "B2930 Grande". They claimed that B2910's are becoming hard to obtain via dealer swaps and they wonder if Kubota in Japan is already making the B2930. ....

Don't know if they can get all the changes done by this fall for spring delivery! We sent them back home with a whole bunch of things to consider. They are trying hard to get them out as they know the styling is dated as much as the tractors are still very workable. ....
